Welcome
As the new Superintendent, I am extremely grateful for the support I have received thus far from the school community, and in particular, our dedicated Board of Trustees, the Educational Leadership Team, the teachers and staff.
Their work during the Covid-19 pandemic has ensured that our school mission and vision are at the forefront and our school community remains healthy and safe. The power of teamwork is incalculable.
The American School of Recife’s Mission Statement stresses our commitment to molding “lifelong learners with an international perspective”, reaching their potential, creating “critical learners” who will be fully equipped to be “responsible world citizens”. Not only does EAR aim for academic excellence (as seen in formative and summative assessment successes, MAP scores, AP scores and university acceptances), we also aim to educate the ‘whole’ child. The 21st century is very different to the 20th century, and changes are occurring at a much faster rate than ever before. It is our vision to prepare EAR graduates to be ready for these changes.
The power of our youth can never be underestimated. One example is Ms. Malala Yousafzai who was 15 years old when she was terribly attacked while seated on a bus heading home from school (she was talking with her friends about schoolwork), and she went on to inspire millions around the globe. Malala stated, “One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world.” I believe in the power of learning and shaping students who will make the world a better and more peaceful place than it is today.
Our new buildings and construction plans continue to ensure that EAR enjoys the best facilities possible. There is much to do in the upcoming years; many challenges to face. Similarly, there are a lot of opportunities to be grasped. In this way, I believe the school will go from strength to strength and continue to be one of the leading schools in Brazil and South America.
Whether you are an expatriate student or parent considering a move of your child to our school, we hope you find the answers to your questions on this website. Feel free to schedule a visit to see our school in action, and contact us if you have questions about our exceptional educational programs and services.

Welcome to the American School of Recife!
