The term “learning styles” means that every student learns differently.
Our educators understand the differences in their students’ learning styles so that they can implement best practice strategies into their daily activities, curriculum, and assessments.
Different learning
At EAR we know that “core” learning in English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies, and Portuguese requires the support and balance of different learning modalities and muscles within our brains. The specials and elective course offerings at EAR meet this need. Below you will find a list of the Elementary Specials classes and the Electives classes that are offered in our Secondary School Program.

FIELD TRIPS
Field trips or excursions are journeys by students and teachers to a place outside their normal environment. The purpose of the trip is observation for educational purposes, non-experimental research or to provide students with experiences outside their daily activities, such as a visit to the Botanical Garden, Espaço Ciência, Forte das Cinco Pontas, a tour of the city rivers by catamaan, Francisco Brennand Archaeological Institute, among others. The aim of these researches is to observe the subject in its natural state and, eventually, collect samples. It is seen that field trips provide a common ground for more-advantaged and less-advantaged children to have some of the same educational experiences.
Classroom Without Walls
The secondary division offers extracurricular opportunities for students in grades 6-12 to further their development outside the regular classroom. Currently, we hold “Classroom Without Walls” trips that help students deepen their understanding through experiential learning. Specific grade levels have taken trips to Fernando de Noronha and Chapada Diamantina to further extend their classroom knowledge in science & social studies. Students and teachers not only find the learning experience enlightening, but also strengthens class unity.
